“Cannes” is translated from French like “reeds”. But that’s no big surprise. According to one of the versions the reeds used to form a thick ring around this land. Today it’s a paradise for those who love a luxurious resorts and the first-class shopping. A colorful symbol, so called vitrine of Cannes, is the Promenade de la Croisette. It is a place of concentration of world famous brand boutiques, jewellery salons, souvenir shops with different works of art. For the connoisseurs of perfume the best pastime is an excursion to the “Fragonard” factory that creates a lot of famous scents.
However amazing beaches and the shopping on the Croisette are not the main attractions. The central event is an annual film festival held in Cannes. Every year a million audience watches the videos telling about popular films and awards. The Cannes Festival has been one of the most important events for the cinema experts, actors and their fans since the very first one in 1946. Cannes also hosts dance contests, sport competitions and intellectual games, which made Cannes a diamond in the diadem of the French cities.
