How to organize a trip to the Maldives on your own?
Many people ask me how to organize a trip to the Maldives without assistance of the agencies. So that is why I decided to share my own experience with the Wedgo’s readers.
First of all, some surprising information: many people believe that to go somewhere without agency is difficult, but actually what is really difficult is to go with a help of it :-) Booking of everything we need will take us just a half of an hour. So, let’s start then:
1. Choosing dates
To choose the right dates you can read "What is the best time for visiting the Maldives?". If you are too lazy to read, I’ll tell in brief – the best period is from September till the end of November. During these months prices get low and the weather is fantastic!
2. Choosing a hotel and a room
Recommendations on the choosing of hotel on the Maldives
visit the official site (for example Kuredu) and look through the prices of rooms you like, but take your time, don’t book. Just remember them. Then add the price of the transfer from Malé (it varies from 150 to 1000$) and all the taxes. Now enter Booking or Agoda and check up the prices of the chosen room there, don’t forget about transfers (agoda includes transfer into the total price, on booking — you pay transfer on arrival to the hotel). Now choose the cheapest variant and pay with a card (all the hotels on the Maldives are booked with 100% prepayment, it means once the money is discarded, you get the confirmation).
