Santo-Domingo is known like a real treasury of the Dominican Republic. In the end of the 20th century it was recognized as a human’s cultural heritage. This city was born due to the brother of a famous traveler and discover Columbus. The history of Santo-Domingo, full of interesting events, started with this man. The Casa de Columbus takes a special place among the monuments of Santo-Domingo. It is the first house built in town. It’s always interesting to visit such a legendary place. Another worth-seeing attraction is the palace-museum Alcazar de Colon, that solemnly raises above the harbor. Here you can see and take pictures of furniture and everyday items of 15th – 16th centuries. One more symbol of the city, Catedral de Santa Maria le Menor, is situated nearby. The Naval Museum of the Atarazanas must be visited as well. It’s a complex of 8 ancient buildings, that includes art galleries, restaurants, museums, hotels.
